Preparing for your ENT Consultation or upcoming surgery helps ensure your care runs smoothly. Dr Marina Cavada and her team are committed to helping patients understand what to expect and how to prepare at each stage of their treatment.
Please review the following information before your appointment or scheduled procedure.
Surgery Admission and Pre-operative Instructions
Before your procedure, you will receive information about your hospital admission time and fasting requirments.
It is important to follow the instructioins provided by your surgeon, anaesthetist and hospital regarding fasting, medications and arrival arrangements. If you have not received your pre-operative instructions or are unsure about any aspect of your preperation, please contact the rooms before your scheduled procedure.
To help Dr Cavada assess your condition and discuss the most appropriate treatment options, please bring the following to your appointment:

A Valid GP referral - ensure your referral is current.

Relevant medical imaging - including CT scans, MRI scans or X-rays, along with any available reports.

Medicare card - if applicable.

Depeartment of Veteran's Affairs (DVA) card - if applicable.

Private health insurance details - if applicable.

Relevant medical information - including previous hearing tests, investigation results and a list of your current medications, vitamins and supplements.

Completed patient forms or questionnaires - if requested before your appointment.
A current referral is important for Medicare claims and may also be relevant to rebates for eligible specialist services. Please contact the rooms if you are unsure whether your referral is current.
Preparing for your ENT Surgery
If surgery is recommended, completing the required investigations and administrative arrangements beforehand helps avoid unnecessary delays.
Before your procedure, please ensure you have:

Completed all requested investigations, such as CT scans, MRI scans, hearing tests, blood tests or X-rays, as directed by Dr Cavada.

Submitted all required paperwork, including hospital admission forms and any outstanding patient questionnaires.

Reviewed your surgical fees and cost estimates and signed any required documentation.

Organised any required payments in accordance with the information provided to you.

Provided an up-to-date list of medications and supplements, including vitamins and non-prescription products. Do not stop prescribed medications unless instructed by your treating clinician.
Please also inform Dr Cavada if you intend to travel before or after your planned surgery. Travel may affect the timing of your procedure or recovery. depending on the type of surgery and your individual circumstances.
